Open Thread

I'm out of town until Tuesday, so I'll see you all then -- FINALLY getting out of L.A. to see some of the state that is not covered with smog.

Until then, I'll leave an open thread...what film did you discover on DVD/video that you wish you had seen in the theater on first run? (and you had the opportunity to see in the theater -- rediscovering a 1940's film doesn't count, unless you were a moviegoer at that time).

Moulin Rouge. I love that movie, and I would have loved to see those dance scenes on the big screen.

Hero, and The House of Flying Daggers.

(Although it would have been cool to have seen the Bourne films there as well.)

Hah - I saw all of the above in the theatre -

One that I did not but wish I had once I caught it on DVD - ALL THE REAL GIRLS - I now have a crush on Zoey - awesome flick. Check it out.

And when you come back, how about a category films you saw in the theatre but wished you waited til the rental?

Joshua - First Knight. I went to see that opening night, and I hated it. I mean, who gives the Arthur legend a happy ending? Oh, I could rant for paragraphs about the problems with this movie. But I won't.

Pulp Fiction and True Romance. I really wish I saw them in the theatre. I really can't remember why I didn't.

The Princess Bride. Wore the VHS copy out watching it while I was growing up. Wish I could have seen it on the big screen just once:(

Wish I saw City of God in the theatre and I'm with Emily on Moulin Rouge.

Garden State... I would have loved to hear those Shins and Thievery Coporation songs in surround.

And, for the oh-my-God-it's-so-big-and-loud factor, Sin City, because... oh my God, it would have been so big and loud!
