"Friday" may get to play

News that Jason Katims has come about "Friday Night Lights" as showrunner, certainly make it look like the show is going to get picked up

If they don't schedule it on Fridays, it will be criminal. Right now it looks like it might be scheduled on Sundays with NBC's football coverage.

Update: Looks like NBC is picking up "Heroes" too. (futon critic article)

Friday I'm going to try to predict the network schedules in 5 (yup, where there were 6 nets, now there are 5) posts. Wish me luck with the prognostication.

My problem with this is that sports shows for the most part have done poorly on US television. I think FIRST & TEN is the only one that comes to mind that ran for any length of time.

Because this is high school football my fear is that this show is going to be another ONE TREE HILL...

and NOBODY wants that.

I haven't read the pilot yet, but I have to say, this concept does not set my soul afire...

We're still holding out breath in Texas to see if they film the show out of state. The pilot was filmed in Pflugerville, Texas, but without incentives, show developers threatened to take it elsewhere.

The root of all evil is economic.

Oh, and I'm still not sure about this concept for Friday night Lights. Hope it's good though.

I know the movie was successful, and I enjoyed it. (What Lucas Black is doing in Fast and the Furious: Initial D is beyond me.) But I fear that any High School Football tv show is destined to become a new One Tree Hill. The only way I can conceive of it not is if it becomes a Sit Com.

This Week On Friday Night Lights...Quarterback Jerry and Center George discuss why the Football is called the Pigskin. George also has to explain "shrinkage" to a girl who snuck into the locker room.
